This is the structural domain of C-glycoside deglycosidase beta subunit (CGDB, also known as CarC), a carbon-carbon bond-cleaving enzyme which participates in the metabolism of C-glycosides [1]. It acts on the C6-glycosylated compounds 3''-dehydroisovitexin (3''-oxo-isovitexin) and 3''-dehydroisoorientin (3''-oxo-homoorientin) [1]. In some members, this domain is found in combination with other domains.

This TIM alpha/beta barrel structure is found in xylose isomerase (Swiss:P19148) and in endonuclease IV (Swiss:P12638, EC:3.1.21.2). This domain is also found in the N termini of bacterial myo-inositol catabolism proteins. These are involved in the myo-inositol catabolism pathway, and is required for growth on myo-inositol in Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. viciae [1].
